Interesting to see so many family lines on here. I am from McCormicks (my mother was from the Cyrus McCormick family line) who were,
according to family tradition instrumental in helping the Maclaine chief retake Moy Castle from the Duarts in the 1500s.

I'm looking for help trying to place my tree on Mull. I can go back to 1460 in Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, Scotland (if the information is correct. It gets sketchy the farther back we go). Does anyone know how we may have gotten there and if we were ever on Mull? I have the book, "The Race of Hector" and "One Clan or Two" but can't quit connect the dots to them.
Good evening from south Texas. My name is Erin Joyce. My mother's maiden name is McClain. I have always been fascinated with my family history / genealogy. I am in the middle of researching my Scottish heritage. My particular interest is in the lore and spirituality concerning the esteemed branch through Hector. I have na found much. So far just an article of Ewan the headless. Did you know the Maclaine's can boast of a headless horseman ?
Any help with my research would be vastly appreciated.
It's good to see others posting here from our Paden/Peden family page. Hello Ashlyn. I too am hoping to learn all I can about our ancestors. I have traced my maternal Grandfather's line back to Scotland. I have many Scottish connections, Campbell of Cawdor, my gr gr grandpa, Buchanan from my grgrgrandmother McCubbin and to many more to list. My closet direct line is my Grandfather Eldridge Paden, I choose to honor his life by joining the Clan that he would have been part of.
grandmother, Mary Elizabeth "Mae" McLain, came over on the boat from Ballina, Ireland, to Philadelphia in the early 1900s. have been sporting my hunting tartan kilt for 20 years, and it somehow shrunk. or i've put on weight. curious to see a few other McLains that ended up in Pennsylvania.
Hi, I'm Jennifer Smith-Daigle. My 2x great grandfather was John G. McFadgen who was born around the area of Kilfinichen on the Isle of Mull in 1849. He emigrated to Canada, then to North Dakota, where he and his wife and their kids are buried. In the McFadgen line, I've gone back of Dougall Roy "Red Dugald of Coll" McPhaden, born around 1650. I live in Aurora Colorado and hope to visit the Isle of Mull someday.
Hi! I'm Deborah Smart, nee McSpadden. Both of my parents are Scottish, the McSpadden is from my father's side. We've been able to trace my 3rd great-grandfather back to Ireland in about 1805, with my 2nd great-grandfather coming to Lanarkshire about 1857. My father arrived in Canada in 1956, and I was born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1962.
Hi, I'm Mike Lepin and I descend from the MacCormicks. I play in a small pipe & drum band in Central Oregon. My wife and I play the tenor drum and I am learning the pipes. There's something special about the sound of the pipes in the distance when you are at large cultural events and you want to know where 'your people' are. :-)
Halo! I'm Joyce Applegate. I'm a descendant of the MacFaddens, with all of the variety of spellings that come with that, including a few Pedens and Padens! My family was a sept of Clan MacLaine and I'm hoping I may be able to find out more about them, as info on the MacFaddens as a clan is very scarce. Slainte!
Hello! My name is Jeff McLain. I live about an hour and a half to the west of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. My grandfather, who passed away many years ago, was always deep into our genealogical connections - and it is something I hope to revisit at some point soon.
