can any any tell me the meaning of this in a name for ex my 5 great grandfather is Malcolm MacLean but in our family tree he is down in abbreviation as Black Malcolm

The surname “Black” is wide-spread in the West Highlands. Equally the nickname “blacky” is also not uncommon. In respect of your predecessor’s name, I would suspect that Black Malcolm was so named due to his completion or appearance.... probably a shock or “unruly “ head of black-colored hair. I doubt if there was anything sinister about the name.
