New Clan Commissioner for the United Kingdom
Letter from the chief:
" I am delighted to announce the appointment of the Clan's first Commissioner for the United Kingdom. For too long the Clan has lacked formal representation in the UK and this appointment marks a significant development.
Our Commissioner is Donald Maclaine - the great, great grandson of Allan Maclaine who was the fourth son of Murdoch Maclaine, 20th of Lochbuie. ( Effectively that makes Donald my 3rd cousin, once removed!)
Donald was commissioned into the British army from RMA Sandhurst in 1974. He served in Germany and Northern Ireland before resigning from the army in 1994 to follow a career in aviation with Westland Helicopters. Donald is currently the Chief Test Pilot of Augusta Westland.
Donald is married to Alison and has three daughters - Fiona, Catherine and Joanne. They live in Dorset.

A new generation of clansmen
Congratulations to the clan Commissioner for Scandinavia. Michael and Charlotte Maclaine are celebrating the birth of their son, Ian Maclaine, born on 27 August at 12:05 local time.
Although expcted in November, Ian decided to bring his arrival date forward to late August.
Both Charlotte and Ian are fine, and are hoping to be home from hospital soon.

The Baptism of Gregor and Natalie (the Chief's grandchildren) - July 2009
Gregor (second son) and Natalie (daughter) of Angus were baptised at St. Kildas church in Lochbuie on Wednesday 29 July 2009.

The Gathering - Edinburgh - July 2009
Clan Maclaine of Lochbuie supported the Gathering of the Clans in Edinburgh in July 2009.
The Red Rose of Lochbuie band played for the Chief in front of the Clan Maclaine tent.
