Chiefs of the Clan Maclaine of Lochbuie
Note: Iain Dubh (Black John), great-grandson of Gillean-na-Taughe, was father of Lachlan the Wily, founder of Maclean of Duart, and Hector the Stern, 1st Lochbuie, founder of Maclaine of Lochbuie. Some say that Gillean-na-Taughe's ancestry can be traced back to the royal bloodline of Ireland. Others claim that this line extends back beyond the time of Christ - ninety or so generations to a couple who evidently married and migrated to ancient Ireland - "Scota", daughter of the Egyptian King Nectanebo, and "Mileadh Easpinne", a man of Iberian birth. Both died in Ireland.
